(Undated) -- Al Jazeera America is widening its reach to more homes across America. Time Warner Cable has announced a new deal to carry the Qatar-owned news channel in its TWC and Bright House Networks markets over the next six months, starting with New York City, Los Angeles and Dallas. It's an about face for TWC, which pulled out of the now-rebranded Current TV right after its sale to Al Jazeera in January. The channel launched under the Al Jazeera America name in August. In a statement, Time Warner Cable executive Melinda Witmer said now that the channel is live, TWC believes it will be "of value" to its customers and is now pleased to make the channel available.
With the new Time Warner Cable agreement, Al Jazeera America will become available to almost 55 million customers.
