Ambassador Caroline Kennedy Greeted By Crowds In Tokyo

(Tokyo) -- Caroline Kennedy is drawing crowds on her first official day on the job as the new U.S. Ambassador to Japan. Thousands turned out to snap pictures and catch a glimpse of Kennedy as she traveled through the streets of Tokyo to present her credentials to Emperor Akihito . "Bloomberg" says the 55-year-old Kennedy made the trip to the Imperial Palace in a traditional century-old horse-drawn carriage. The only living child of former President John F. Kennedy, she begins her official duties the same week as the U.S. marks the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination.
