(Washington, DC) -- It's an historic first for the Smithsonian. The original, handwritten lyrics for the "Star Spangled Banner" will be displayed together with the 1814 flag that inspired the words to our national anthem. Museum curators believe the display starting on Flag Day, June 14th will mark the first time the two historic pieces have been shown side-by-side. The three-week display in Washington, DC kicks off celebrations marking 200 years since Francis Scott Key penned the stirring words to the song.
