(Washington, DC) -- President Obama wants to allow people with canceled health insurance policies to retain those policies for another year. In a White House news conference, Obama said he knows there are many people who aren't happy with the rollout of Obamacare.
He said, "Insurers can extend plans that would otherwise have been cancelled into 2014" and consumers can enroll in those plans. It is unclear whether the insurance industry will go along with the plan. Obama recently apologized for repeatedly saying that those who like their health insurance policies can keep their policies. Millions of policies are being canceled because they do not conform to broader new rules on coverage in the healthcare reform law.
President Obama offered a general outline of his proposal.
