Belgium Moves Toward Euthanasia Of Terminally Ill Children

(Brussels) -- Lawmakers in Belgium are proposing lifting all age restrictions on euthanasia. This means Belgium could become the first country in the world to allow euthanasia for terminally ill children. The practice has been legal for adults there since 2002. The sponsor of the new bill thinks giving youngsters with incurable illnesses the right to die in dignity shows true humanity. He said the new law would let children afflicted with unbearable physical pain decide how they wish to die.
