ACLU, Others Criticize Migrant Kids' Treatment

(Nogales, AZ) -- The ACLU and other groups say Border Patrol agents must treat migrant children better. Ashley Heebner is an attorney with the National Immigration Justice Center. She says many kids at a Nogales , Arizona detention center said agents physically and verbally abused them. She also said the children don't have adequate food, water, sleeping areas or private toilets. The ACLU has filed a formal complaint about the alleged mistreatment with the Department of Homeland Security. That's the parent agency of the Border Patrol.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Nogales says migrant children will keep pouring through his border town all summer long. Arturo Garino says an emergency processing center in town has about one-thousand children.
