House Speaker Doesn't Reject Idea Of Extending Unemployment Benefits

(Washington, DC) -- Republican House Speaker John Boehner is not rejecting the idea of extending unemployment benefits.
Congress passed the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program in 2008 after the Wall Street meltdown prompted the deep recession. Roughly one-point-three million are still struggling to find work in the sluggish recovery and unemployment benefits expire December 28th. There is little appetite for another extension of unemployment benefits among many conservatives in the Republican-led House.
