(Seoul) -- The death toll from the South Korean ferry tragedy is rising after divers recovered more bodies from the submerged ship today. At least 49 are confirmed dead with more than 250 people, mostly students still missing. Meanwhile, the ships' captain is defending his decision not to give the order to abandon ship. He said he feared people in life vests would be swept away by strong currents before rescue boats could arrive. The captain and two crewmembers are being charged on multiple counts in the disaster.
