(Undated) -- The number of cases of diabetes is hitting a global record. Medical experts say the number of cases has soared to some 382-million this year. The majority of people have type 2 diabetes, the kind linked to obesity and lack of exercise. However, the disease is spreading as more people in the developing world adopt Western, urban lifestyles. The International Diabetes Federation predicts the number of cases will skyrocket by 55-percent to 592-million by 2035. Federation public health specialist David Whiting says a strategy involving all segments of society is needed to improve diets and promote healthier lifestyles.
