Former Cy Young Winner Bob Welch Dead
(Seal Beach, CA) -- The last man to win at least 25 games in a Major League Baseball season is dead. Former Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland A's pitcher Bob Welch has passed away at the age of 57. The A's have released a statement saying Welch died at his home in the Southern California community of Seal Beach, but his exact cause of death is unknown.

Welch was with the Dodgers from 1978 to 1987, and then spent the next seven seasons with the A's. The two-time All-Star won the Cy Young Award in 1990 when he went 27-6 for the Athletics. Welch was a member of two World Series champions, the 1981 Dodgers and the 1989 A's.
