MLB Appoints Bean As Inclusion Consultant
(Wellfleet, MA) -- Major League Baseball is bringing on former player Billy Bean to serve as the league's first "Ambassador for Inclusion." Bean came out as gay after his playing days in 1999. Sports management professor Dr. Daniel Rosenberg says the announcement shows baseball wants to keep up with cultural changes in America.
MLB says Bean will provide guidance and training related to efforts to support those in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Rosenberg says Bean's appointment shows baseball's proactive stance on inclusion.
