Stan Lee Cancels Comic-Con Appearance

Stan Lee Cancels Comic-Con Appearance
(San Diego, CA) -- Comic-Con will go on this year without one of its most celebrated icons. "Spider-Man," "Hulk" and "X-Men" co-creator Stan Lee is bowing out of his scheduled appearances at the convention this weekend after losing his voice. A rep tells "The Hollywood Reporter," the 91-year-old comic book legend has come down with a bout of laryngitis but is "otherwise well and in good health." Lee's appearance at the convention has been a highlight since Comic-Con's earliest days. He appeared at the Phoenix Comic-Con in June and is scheduled to appear at other conventions later this year, including San Antonio's Alamo City Comic-Con in September and his own Stan Lee's Comikaze in October in Los Angeles.

Lee makes a cameo in the new Marvel Comics movie "Guardians of the Galaxy" due out August 1st.
