Toledo Residents Warned Not To Drink Water

(Toledo, OH) -- It will be at least another day before people in northwestern Ohio will be able to drink the water. Around 500-thousand people in and around Toledo have been warned not to drink the tap water after tests found high levels of toxins. People are also being told not to give the water to pets and that boiling it can actually make it more toxic. Toledo Mayor Michael Collins said water is being trucked in from around the state. Water samples tested positive for a toxin associated with algae in Lake Erie that can come from fertilizer, livestock pens, or septic tanks.
Authorities are awaiting results on more tests before the water can be deemed safe to drink.
